day 4: Lincoln, NE to Ogallala, NE
Ada’s been on a real state capitals kick since her state capitals unit in school so we started day 4 with a building tour of the Nebraska State Capitol.
The Capitol tour was really thorough and well done and our tour guide was super passionate about the art and architecture of the building.
We also got to poke around inside the Nebraska Supreme Court and the law library.
After the Capitol tour, we headed over to Speedway Motors in Lincoln, to visit their Museum of American Speed.
Reader, I was unprepared.
I’ve been to a lot of motorsports museums, and particularly with ones that are attached to tracks or to manufacturers or team owners, I expect something small and narrowly focused. This was . . . not that. The Museum of American Speed could easily be 5 different very large and focused museums. It’s a trip. You should make it.
Remember, Safety Wins!
Thank you for the reminder, Funeral Home.
After the Museum of American Speed, we had a tasty dinner, said goodbye to our favorite Nebraska resident cat, Tuna, and got back on I80 pointed towards Ogallala, NE.
We checked in at a Quality Inn in Ogallala after visiting an assortment of I80s finest truck stops, which now sell prepackaged sushi in addition to the questionable t-shirts and scanning/faxing business center services.
Today’s title from “Born to Roll”, I like the Kelly Willis/Bruce Robison version best.
