day 5: Ogallala, NE to Laramie, WY
Anybody who has travelled I80 westbound knows that we have spent a lot of time looking out the windshield at ^^^^ that.
Day 5 was mostly a repositioning day, getting ourselves to a destination. We spent a little more time on the phone with our office, remote working, checking in on the highest priority time-sensitive things that can’t wait for vacation’s end.
But we also spent some time explaining to our kid what a bidet is, after she encountered an electronic bidet in a freakin’ gas station restroom in Sidney, NE.
Amazing restrooms indeed!
When I’m in charge of picking a restaurant in a small town, the parking lot tends to be filled with construction work trucks when we arrive, and it proves my instincts are spot-on. They’re always putting an entire cow on my side salad.
Right at the Nebraska/Wyoming state line, we stopped to see Our Lady of Peace.
And we took the opportunity to grab a shot with a Nebraska welcome sign, even though we were technically departing.
On the Wyoming side of life, we found the Tree in the Rock, which is not just a roadside attraction, it’s a road-middle attraction, as you have to left-exit to visit it in the median between east and westbound I80.
We arrived at our hotel in Laramie in time for napping, pool time, a trip to the deli, and an early bedtime to prep for a very busy Day 6 ahead.
