day 3: Iowa Speedway to Lincoln, NE
We started day 3 with a trip to the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum in Knoxville, Iowa, which is also usually an annual stop for us.
There were several new displays this year that we’d never seen before, but most exciting for Ada was the visit to the Hall of Fame to see the new-in-22 plaque honoring brand new Hall of Famer and one of her most famous friends, John Gibson.
Zach was excited to find this family tree of the Kinser family in the Kinser display, and he would like very much to find out where he can purchase a throwback Hezekiah Kinser t-shirt, thank you very much.
After the Hall of Fame visit and lunch, we headed back to Iowa Speedway for the 2nd race in the IndyCar weekend doubleheader.
Count us among the folks who were blown away by how much effort Hy-Vee put into this entire weekend experience for us. Big fans. Big big fans.
We got some relief from the heat – it was at least 15 degrees cooler for the 2nd race. Thanks, Hy-Vee, I assume you guys also handled that.
Immediately after the checkered flag, we were in the car and westbound on 80 to Lincoln, NE, where we parked for the night and Ada touched her feet to the ground in the state of Nebraska for the first time ever.
