gotta spend your whole life trying

The start of day/end of day nature of what I’m doing here gets a little blurry when one day ends and another starts at 5am at Pete’s Kitchen. I mean sometimes you gotta just draw a line I guess. Zach doesn’t want to talk about it.

We went to Casa Bonita, which is closed due to bankruptcy, hoping to reopen soon, and is currently infested with theater kids giving tours in character and pool guys trying to fix the waterfall.

This was my first trip to Casa Bonita in Denver, but I did eat at the one in Tulsa once.

My favorite story from the backstage tour is that while the place is open, somebody jumps in the pool and tries to run out at least twice a month. They always get lost trying to find the exit, they always leave a trail of wet footprints to where they are, and the staff puts them in the photobooth jail cell until police arrive.

Casa Bonita is the Wall Drug of Denver. It is what you’d get if the crazy House on the Rock guy decided to build a restaurant. If you are currently thinking about how the food is bad, you are on a list of people I can’t travel with because you are a big dull killjoy. I will not be taking any further questions.

We only planned about 3 events on this entire vacation and nothing that happened today is on that list. Zach keeps pointing out botanical gardens and I keep wrinkling my nose. So today I found this shop called Terrorium where a florist married a taxidermist and went wild and we bought some bones and some plants. Same idea. Good wife-ing.

Thought I could fix the all-nighter with a $9 juice.

Actually fixed the all-nighter with Tacos Jalisco. Chilaquiles not shown, per usual, because I got too damn excited.

Bought tickets for Tedeschi Trucks Band at Red Rocks while shoveling guac into our mouths. We saw them shortly before lockdown at Chicago Theater. Bet it’s different here. Hitting send during first song. ❤️
