In the old days, on the old blog, I saved up scraps of little things that weren’t worth their own post and I served them up on Thursdays the way my mother would serve up all the leftovers on the same day and tell us it was “Take No Prisoners” night because nothing was going back in the fridge.
Ada and I have started spending feral mornings in the forest preserve behind our house. On Tuesday she wrote a rap song about the frog monitoring area. We usually see one or two other people who mind their business and stay far away. We hope that doesn’t change tomorrow when it actually opens back up.

2018: At a campaign fundraiser for a local elected official at a private club on the river, my child screamed off the deck at a passing boat until they stopped to pick her up so she didn’t have to hang out at a boring campaign fundraiser. We knew the boater, it wasn’t a stranger. But I’m not sure my kid cared.
